So you’ve made a new commitment to eat less – or eat better – and now you need to figure out how to actually do it. One of the toughest things to learn is exactly how much you’re eating. Weighing and measuring everything is tiring, and we don’t eat at home all the time (although eating at home more can certainly help).
Wise Geek made this terrific page to give some visual cues to total calories. (Just one part of the story, but your overall calorie intake – balanced with your activity – is the best indicator of which direction your weight will go.) These photos were taken at the same scale – so two pictures side by side show you the amounts, relative to each other, to get 200 calories.
